Writing:

  1. We worked hard to develop our secondary character would be in our realistic fiction stories. WB
  2. We chose which story idea that we want to take through the writing process and eventually publish! AC
  3. We made a T-chart to help develop our characters. We thought about their internal and external features. CM
  4. We took our characters out for a test scene! SM
  5. We brainstormed story ideas by thinking about issues that mattered to us! AA
  6. We thought about what our characters wanted and how they would struggle to achieve it! HW
  7. We practiced spelling our word wall words (there, their, they're, wear, where, were, we're) playing "Stay'in Alive." GR

Reading:
  1. We set reading goals from our pre-assessment responses. ZG
  2. We are choosing just right books and making sure we always have enough to read on deck! MM
  3. We are working on logging and jotting consistently! ES
  4. We thought about the differences between our reading life in school and at home! HH
Math:
  1. We used our "phonebook" and ripped out pages! RP
  2. We played a math game with our math partners. We had to make equations to change our starting number. SL
  3. We are working with place value. We are noticing when numbers change and why! SM
  4. We made a 1,000 book and are using it to locate numbers. AA
  5. We played Point and Say! CS
  6. We learned some new important math vocabulary: sum, difference, inequality, place value, expanded form, addition, subtraction, magnitude. WB
Second Steps:
  1. We learned about empathy. We also talked about how this would help us throughout the entire school year! PA
Social Studies:
  1. We started talking about the United States. We learned there are 5 regions and that we live in the Northeast. CW
  2. We learned that Washington D.C. is the capital of the United States. It is not a state, it s territory. NC
