Math:

  • We are taking a break from addition and moving on to learn about subtraction. HH
  • We learned how to use the algorithm when solving problems with money. CM
  • We learned words that are associated with subtraction to help us recognize these kinds of problems: take away, minus, how many left, difference, decreasing, smaller, and less than. WB
  • We were learning how to problem solve effectively using exemplars. We focused on communicating our solution and making connections. SM
  • We learned about different subtraction situations: figure out the missing part, compare two numbers by finding the difference, or take away one part. CS
  • We are on the last bend of our math unit before we move on to a new one! MM
Reading:
  • We are learning to grow big ideas about the life lessons within our books. RP
  • When are trying to recognize when the author is giving us a hint about what is to come next in the plot. Usually, this is something that seems to stand out in the scene! CW
  • We learned how to develop debatable ideas within our books, how to take a position, and how to defend this position with evidence from our text! PA
  • We learned to focus on the setting and repetitive objects to grow bigger ideas about our stories. WP
Writing:
  • We finished drafting in our drafting booklets. AB
  • We made sure to include dialogue, thinking, and feelings into our realistic fiction stories. HW
  • We worked on revising our leads and studied a mentor text to help us learn the moves of expert writers. ES
  • We made sure that our reader knows how our characters get from one place to another by using scene transitions. ZG
  • We wore revision lenses to see what we could add to our stories to make them even better! AA

Social Studies:
  • We are learning more about how where we live affects how we live. QK
  • We are learning about how hurricanes affect not just the Northeast, but also the southeast! AC
Workshop:
