Writing:

  • We finished publishing our realistic fiction drafts. GG
  • We typed our pieces using the chromebooks. LK
  • We made final edits and revisions. We are going to go back over them one more time when we return from break. JW
  • We took an on demand in writing. CH
Math:
  • We started learning about decimals and how to add them. JE
  • We learned how to put decimals onto a 10 X 10 array. LS
  • We are learning how to problem solve math problems on the SBAC. BW
  • We learned about tenths, hundredths, and thousandths. BV
  • We have been doing practice problems for the SBAC. IP

Reading:
  • We are making a plan for spring break reading and we are using a checklist to help us with out thinking work! CN

Math:

  • We took a math "check-in" to how we are doing with fractions. JW
  • We are learning to put fractions in order and put them on a number line. LK
  • We are learning to add and subtract mixed numbers. AD
  • We are comparing fractions by thinking about their magnitude. IP
  • We worked on word problems that dealt with addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division. GG
  • We can use number lines to compare the size of a fraction. LS
S-BAC:
  • We watched a video to prepare ourselves for the S-BAC. The video taught us tools that we can use to help us! LD
  • We will be taking it later in the month. BV
Writing:
  • We got new writing spots. JE
  • We started editing and revising our fictional pieces. MR
  • We used a checklist to help us make our pieces better! WM
  • We worked to make our endings strong by SHOWING the lesson through dialogue or a thought! CL
  • We learned to use punctuation to SHOW the feelings of our characters and set the mood of the story! MR
  • We are pushing ourselves to be stronger writer's by trying out some advanced moves that 5th grade writers use! BV
  • We are doing new activities to help us practice our spelling patterns and apply them to our writing! AA
Reading:
  • We are learning to step into our character's shoes to understand their perspective! CJ
  • We went to the library to bookshop and we got to read in there! VS
  • We ended on a cliff hanger in Number the Stars-Annemarie has to deliver a special packet to Uncle Henrik. She needs to get there in time before he leaves. She doesn't know what is in the packet, but she is nervous she may get stopped by Nazi soldiers along the way! BW
Science:
  • We made a blueprint of a vehicle we created and then we raced them to test how far they would go. CH
  • We looked at a digital blueprint and had to build the car. IP
