SOCIAL STUDIES: Bring in materials to create your 3-D models to illustrate your events on your Southwest Timeline on FRIDAY, MAY 4th. We will build our models in class. These models can be made out of something as simple as paper!

WRITING: If you have fallen behind in your research at school, please make sure you work on this at home. Up to date, everyone should have information on FAST FACTS, 2-3 INTERESTING PEOPLE, 2-3 INTERESTING PLACES, and HISTORICAL TIMELINE.

STATE MAP: Today we worked on our state maps. Please finish your maps at home and return to school by FRIDAY, MAY 11th. It is helpful to work on this a little each night. See requirements below:
         Your map should include:
  • 5 major bodies of water (rivers and lakes)
  • 5 largest cities in your state
  • State Capital
  • the 2-3 places of interest your researched
  • Economic Resources
  • Natural Resources
  • Map Key
  • Any other information you want to include.
Use pencil first; then go over any writing with a black pen so it can be easily read.
You must neatly color in the map using colored pencils.

1. We started researching for our state books. RM
2. We are having an author visit from Stephanie Greene. RP
3. We are learning to do long division and finding the mean. EK
4. We are finishing up our book clubs this week, and moving on to partner reading! LG
5. In Pictures of Hollis Woods, Hollis is staying at Josie's house and we think she might have alzheimers. JD
6. We are working on a 3-D timeline for the Southwest region. JD
7. We put together all of our state murals to create the midwest. HD & JP
8. We are trying to get back on track since coming back from break. OM
9. Today, we have a special activity and Miss Sproch thinks that Elizabeth is going to do very well! EK
10. Most of us wore green on Wednesday in honor of Earth Day. LG
11. The Rangers and Devils won game 7 and are moving on to round 2! SB & RP
12. Gym class was finally held outside! PY
13. We switched science classes and now have Mrs. Wein. She is teaching us about land and water. EM
14. Less than two weeks away until the Spring Concert.JP
15. We hung up our poems on the Writers At Work Wall. CC
16. This weeks weather report: It has been colder than usual, we were expecting temperatures around the high 50's low 60's. SC

As you read, remind yourself to stop and jot either on Post-Its or in your reading notebook in order to prepare for your book club meeting.
What new strategies are you trying out? What BIG ideas are you learning about life? yourself?

2.MATH:
That Quiz- Everyone does Test A. If you do well, move on to Test B. If you want a challenge, move to Test C.
ALSO: 30 minutes multiplication and division games on Arcademics.

Earth Day: Ox Ridge students are going to show their support by wearing GREEN THIS Wednesday, April 25th. It is important to take care of our Earth and think about the ways we can keep our environment clean and GREEN....turn off a light, use a water bottle, help out in the Ox Ridge Garden, recycle...there are so many ways we can continue to do our part.

Week in Review 4/10 -4/13

1. We started reading a new read aloud entitled Pictures of Hollis Woods.We also have a webpage to post our thoughts about the book. CC
2. We started playing on Studyladder.com. It is really fun and you can make your room! PY
3. Yesterday, we celebrated our Poetry by turning our classroom into a cafe and listening to poets. We signed an autograph wall! SB
4. Miss Sproch was the barista at the cafe! JP
5. We started a new unit in math learning about multiplication and division. We are learning LONG division! EM
6. I got the leftover donuts from the poetry celebration and I am eating right now for snack! DT
7. Spring break is HERE! JD
8. When we return from spring break we will start a new writing unit where we plan to write books! RM
9. It's my birthday! JA
10. Jim Bob is locked in my backpack now. JC
11. We saw Brazilian Dancers at an assembly. LG
12. In Hollis Woods, Hollis is starting to think she might want to stay with Josie and not run away. QG
13. We started reading about the Southwest region in Social Studies. We are going to make a 3D timeline! HD
14. Miss Sproch has a niece! Hello to Violet Ann! JP
15. We had a safety talk  and learned the safety yell. EM
16. We published our poetry in cursive. EM
17. In math, we are using division to figure out real life problems. JD
18. Wilson was rescued and saved, however, he is now in a sling. SC
19. I created and designed an cash box to organize Miss Sproch's money manipulatives. DT

2.MATH:

This week you have two different assignments for math.
The first assignment is an open ended problem. I will pass this out to you.
It is due Tuesday, April 10th.
The second assignment is 25 minutes of multiplication & division practice on http://www.arcademicskillbuilders.com/ . Try to divide your time evenly.

3. The fourth grade will be going on a field trip to the Metropolitan Museum of Art in May. Please see all details in the letter being sent home today.
