1/19 - 1/22

Reading:
  • We earned our Marshmallow & Hot Chocolate party for completing our reading challenge over the holiday break! CN
  • We made a calendar to help us organize and plan our reading research so we could meet our deadline! LS
  • We are currently researching a Native American Tribe in the Southeast region. AD
  • We are getting tested for our new reading levels and we are proud that we are moving up! JW
  • Before the break, we made wishlists for new books to add to our classroom library. They finally came in and we were able to shop for some of these new books! LD
  • When we research, we reread out research to make sure that we do not have any holes. We can list questions that we still have and then research further! LK
  • We learned that researchers don't just read words to learn new information, we look at text features and notice new learning and how the author wants us to feel! MR
  • We shared our fiction reading gals with another and helped each other reach them! IP
Writing: 
  • We are drafting out Southeast information books. This part of our book is due on MONDAY! BV
  • We are going to start a new chapter in our Southeast book about the Native Americans. BW
  • We are learning how to write an informational book. We learned how to include headings, subheadings, and informational paragraphs. WM
  • We learned that informational writers include text features to teach our readers information. DR & IP
Math:
  • We looked at other mathematicians work and we noticed the different ways that mathematicians solve problems. They use different models and strategies. We are trying to use them too! AA
  • We played a math game where we needed to add multiples of 10 or remove multiples of 10 from a number to reach a new number. Our goal, was to find 10 new numbers that were located on each page of our 1,000 books. BW
  • We started and finished our 1,000 books. MR
Science: 
  • We are switching for Science and we have been going to Ms. Fried's classroom! GG
  • We are learning about ecosystems, how they work and what is in them. JE
  • We went onto Ms. Fried's Google Classroom and we are completing a webquest. CH
Other: 
  • We went to an assembly called Jump Rope for Heart and we learned all about the importance of having a healthy heart. CJ
  • We are studying patterns in words! CL
