Writing

  • We had our first writing celebration and we shared our realistic fiction stories with our parents! LD
  • We planned and rehearsed our celebration so we would be prepared to teach our parents about the writing process. LK
  • We wrote two on demands--POST on demand for realistic fiction to show all we learned and a PRE on demand for essays to show what we already know. AA
  • We are going to be reflecting on our journey of writing with our parents to see how much we have grown so far and to set new goals to push us even further! JE
Social Studies
  • We are getting ready for our northeast map test. We are learning how to study for a map test by making a study map. We outlined the states in different colors, and labeled the state name and capitol. We made sure our spelling is accurate! CH
  • We used the maps in social studies books to help us! WM
Math
  • We started a new unit in Data. We are learning about collecting data by counting m & m's in a snack size bag. CJ
  • We learned how to organize our data using a line plot, a bar graph or an ordered list! VS
  • We also looked at data from Mrs. Rongoe's class and practiced organizing the data.
  • After organizing your data, you can draw conclusions about it by thinking about the mode, range, typical, and atypical. BV
  • After collecting our m & m data, we ate it! The Sprochstars
Reading
  • We started writing new reading goals by looking to artifacts. We can analyze our reading notebooks or reading logs to help us set SMART goals! LS
  • We took a post assessment to see how much we have grown as readers! CL
  • We are still reading, logging, and jotting every day and every night! WM
Word Study
  • We got our second sort and are continuing to study spelling patterns and trying to use them in our writing. CN
MYSTERY:
  • We are going to Miss Dineen's first grade classroom today, but we have no idea why?! Miss Sproch is sooooo sneaky! Ask us about this later! GG
