1/11- 1/15

Reading/Social Studies:
  • We are combining our nonfiction reading unit and our social studies content together! MR
  • Today, we went through four different stations to research the Southeast Region. We used different resources at each station and we are keeping track of which information we get from the different resources. LS
  • We are finishing up our Southeast research! CN
  • We are working on our interpretation fiction goals in our just right books at home! JE
  • While reading nonfiction, we are working on synthesizing. Synthesizing is when you take one piece of information and put it together with another piece of information to then come up with a bigger idea. AD
  • All of the research that we are doing will help us with our writing of an informational book. BW
  • We took a reading test where we had 1 minute to read as much of a text as we could. We repeated this 3 times. CH
Math:
  • We started our new unit and are working with LARGE numbers. We added and removed multiples of ten from numbers. We talked about what happens to the place value of the numbers. GG
  • For our math warm up, we played Broken Calculator. You have to follow certain criteria to make a number, usually one of the numbers on the calculator are broken! AA
  • We made a 1,000 book and had to put landmark numbers that would help anyone identify and locate any number quickly. LK
  • We took a mad minute and a pre-assessment for our new math unit! CL
Writing:
  • We wrote an PRE On-Demand for informational writing so Miss Sproch can see what we already know about information books! JE
  • We looked at a sample of an Informational Piece to study the moves this writer has made.
